Prostate Cancer
Prostate Cancer Screening: Take Charge of Your Health
Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men—but when caught early, it’s highly treatable. Regular screening helps detect cancer before symptoms appear, giving you the best chance at effective treatment.
Which Screening Test is Right for You?
- Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) Test – A simple blood test that measures PSA levels, which may indicate prostate cancer or other prostate conditions.
- Digital Rectal Exam (DRE) – A quick physical exam where your doctor checks the prostate for any abnormalities. Often used alongside the PSA test.
- Biopsy or MRI – If PSA levels are elevated or DRE results are abnormal, further testing may be needed to confirm a diagnosis.
When Should You Get Screened?
- Age 50+ (or age 45 if you have a family history or are at higher risk)
- If you experience symptoms like frequent urination, difficulty urinating, or blood in urine
- If your doctor recommends it based on your health and risk factors

Diagnosis
Nearly one in six American men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime. With greater awareness, prostate cancer detection is on the rise and mortality is declining. Prostate cancer can be detected during a regular checkup, using a combination of a blood test called a PSA and a digital rectal exam (DRE).
Personalized Treatments
If you have an early diagnosis of prostate cancer, there is usually a range of treatment options. These may include conservative management, radiation therapy with external bream or brachytherapy therapy, cryosurgery, and prostatectomy - surgical removal of the prostate. Your treatment options will depend on a number of factors, including the stage of the disease, your age, health or personal preference.
Types of Treatment
Robotic Radical Prostatectomy
We offer treatment with surgeons trained in the daVinci minimally invasive robotic surgery. This allows the surgeon to operate using robotic tools inserted through several small incisions, minimizing the blood loss and recovery time of prostate surgeries.
External Beam Irradiation
We are equipped with an advanced Elekta Infinity linear accelerator capable of treating the brain and spine with high precision. The Elekta Infinity linac offers volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), which often provides faster and more precise radiation delivery to the brain and spine.
Radionuclide Therapy
Patients with widespread metastatic prostate cancer may benefit from systemic therapy with radioactive isotopes, including Samarium-153 (Quadramet) and Radium-223 (Xofigo).
Hormone Therapy
We offer androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) for prostate cancers. This well-established treatment modality is known to benefit patients with high-risk localized cancers, as well as patients with metastatic disease.
