CHRISTUS Health opened a new endocrinology clinic with a ribbon-cutting and blessing on Wednesday, expanding access to specialized care and offering vital diabetes education and support to the community.
At more than 12,000 square-feet, the CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic endocrinology facility is located inside the CHRISTUS HealthPark Plaza on Beckham Street in Tyler, and features 37 exam rooms staffed by five endocrinologists, three advance practice clinicians and four diabetes education specialists.
“This clinic is more than just a place, it is a beacon of excellence celebrating specialized, personalized and compassionate care,” said Dr. Sylvia Kariamphuza during the ribbon-cutting event.
The ribbon-cutting event coincided with the 25th anniversary of CHRISTUS Health offering endocrinology services in the Tyler area. The service was founded by Dr. Margaret “Meg” Reitmeyer to provide much-needed pediatric services and introduced technologies such as insulin pumps to local diabetes patients.
“The growth of this clinic has paralleled the recognition of diabetes and its importance as well as the advancements in medications and technology for treatment,” Reitmeyer said. “With the support of CHRISTUS, we have tied together amazing physicians, educators and support staff and this is what you see now as a result of that great marriage.”
In May, CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic endocrinology earned national honors for its diabetes program from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Diabetes Recognition Program.
It is one of 13 diabetes programs statewide and the only diabetes program in East Texas to earn recognized status.
According to NCQA, clinics and practices that earn this recognition “have demonstrated a commitment to continuous quality improvement and a patient-centered approach to care.”
“Our physicians and staff hold themselves to the highest standards and this national recognition aligns with the incredible work being done,” Kariamphuza said. “On this special day, as we celebrate our 25th anniversary and this new clinic, we celebrate the past and look forward to 25 more years of extraordinary service.”
